I've been researching my family history for some time now and recently started to research my husband's family history, too. He told me that he had two 'aunts', but he is not sure if they were actual relations or good friends of the family. They ran a fruit and vegetable shop in Govan/Linthouse area, on or near the corner of Drive Road which is now on a large roundabout, and he remembers them as Aunt Jule (?) and Aunt Nell. Does anyone remember the shop and do they have any information on these two ladies, as we don't even know their surname(s). I would be grateful for any information. smithsgirl www.mycityglasgow.co.uk

We visited the Fairfield building on Doors Open Day and spoke to Jean (Melville?), who told us she is 85, a wonderful lady and the building is a great project. She is a member of the Govan Reminiscences Group. So taken were we with Jean and the building, we forgot to ask about the shop! (see previous post) I tried to email this group from their website (there are no other contact details) at govanremgroup@yahoo.co.uk, but my mail was returned, as no such email address exists. I then discovered that there is another website which seems to be the same group, but again no contact details. However, there is a form to complete with your email address and query etc., with the usual code to be entered in a box to verify that it is not an automated message. No matter how many times I entered the correct code (which, of course changes every time) - I was always told I had entered the code wrongly and my message would not be sent. Now Jean was bemoaning the fact that they had few members and wanted to recruit new people. Although this does not apply in our case, I fail to see how interested parties can get in touch when the only contact to be made with the group is through a method which is obviously not working. Hopefully someone from this group will read this and ( please) PM me contact details or get someone to fix the website?

I'm now fairly sure that Aunts Jule and Nell worked in a Ross's Dairy's shop. Anyone recognise the names? www.mycityglasgow.co.uk
