It's the 200 years Anniversary of Charles Darwin next week.
The author of the work "on the Origin of the Species" caused controversy with his evolution theory and the idea that we evolved from Monkies.
Tell me what your thoughts are. Is it possible that we're descended from apes and chimps? Are we a devine creation? Are we a lucky one off?
Post your thoughts here.

This is so deep.. Well, I think as humans we're pretty well equipped just just now. Can you imagine us evolving even more? Do you think one day we'll all have super powers?

Superpowers would be cool. I've developed the ability to give small electric shocks to cats. That's no joke! Evolution isn't just about developing new and better powers, though. It's also about losing the things that are no longer of use to a species. Take Pinky fingers for example. Over the last couple of hundred years there has been a notable decrease in size of the pinky!! Some sceintists believe that eventually we'll oinly have four fingers. I think Xbox and Playstation should bring out a new controller that makes you use your pinky more so as we can keep a hold of those wee cheeky chappies. There's also been a notable increase in the average height which I think shows that we have become overcrowded and height is increaing with each new generation trying to grow taller to see over the heads of other people. I'm sure in three hundred years we'll have three stomachs, be seven foot tall and have only two fingers on each hand.

What I think is amazing is that most animals have developed physical traits for survival( big claws, big teeth, camouflage, speed etc) whereas humans, physically, are very vulnerable. Instead of physical characteristics to ensure our survival, humans primary means of survival is our intelligence.
Our natural curiosity is also playing a big part in our future survival. When we sent a man to this moon, this may have seemed nothing more than curiosity. But infact, one day we may need this technology that we are using the satisfy our curiosity to take us to other planets if the earth dies out... Maybe then we will be forced to 'evolve' to cope with the change in conditions.

Good thoughts Gordy. I agree with you that Humans use their intellegence as a big part of their Survival. In our case it's survival of the smartest. I'm pretty sure the world can survive us. It's survived ice ages huge meteorites and such the like. I think we might end up helping to make it un inhabitable by humans, though. Then the ant's and insects can have a go at evolving into giant...em...insect people.
